Have you ever watched the movie WALL-E? The one where the robot’s on a planet all by himself? Well, something similar to this film happened on Mars in real-time. The truth is, NASA has launched robots called Mars Rovers ever since 1996. Mars Rovers resemble a robot made from satellites and solar panels. They have robotic necks and heads, and they move around like any other human. There have only been five rovers to ever touch the surface of Mars which include Sojourner, Curiosity, Spirit, Opportunity, and the newest addition, Perseverance.
There are only 4 names on this list as in reality, Spirit and Opportunity are twins. They launched on the same day, same time, had the same mission, and explored Mars as siblings. Unfortunately, all beings, sentient or man-made, have an expiration date. This applies to Sojourner and the twins. Although Sojourner’s story is sad, the twin’s story is guaranteed to pull your heartstrings.
